rubbing/grinding noise from timing belt area at idle
i made this thread https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/sloshing-splashing-noise-engine-bay-sounds-like-water-engine-sound-clip-757141/ about what i thought the problem was but it turns out that it has nothing to do with that.
after trying to pinpoint the problem, it seems that the noise i was hearing is more then likely a rubbing or soft grinding noise near the timing belt area.
i just had the timing belt service done a few weeks ago. now im thinking that this TSB http://www.in.honda.com/rjanisis/pubs/SB/B08-031.pdf might help but it says it only applies to 05 and new TLs. why wouldnt the 04 be included in that list if each year uses the same parts?
the TSB solves the problem by installing a shim on the idler pulley and grinding down part of the engine mount.
i did not have the idler pulley replaced on the 105k service. so my question is (before i go back to the dealer) does the idler pulley have to be removed/adjusted/loosened in any way in order to put on a new timing belt, tensioner or water pump?

libert69,
My reply is not directed at you. I am just using this as an opportunity to remind any reader that might be facing their "100,000 mile maintenance" in the near future to get the following items as part of the "100,000 mile maintenance "service.
I just had the wife's 2003 RL serviced. Told the independent shop to perform the following items. Although much more expensive initially, it sure does feel good knowing all of those items where replaced.
Major maintenance at 105K
------------------------------
Replace timing belt
Replace water pump
Replace pulleys and tensioner if there is one in the circuit
All cooling system hoses
Thermostat
Drive Belts
Spark Plugs
Adjust (not just inspect) Valve Clearance
