Rubber surrounds on sunroof being eaten away?
Don't know how else to describe it, but the seal on the sunroof of my 5 month old TL looks like it's corroding or being chipped away. I don't quite think this should be happening on a car, especially one so new. And it really concerns me since I know sunroofs have a tendency to go bad (leak) after a few number of years.
So I just took it into the dealership today and they're going to replace the whole thing. It's nice that they didn't hesitate in ordering a brand new sunroof for me, but it concerns me a little that they have to do work on something that was sealed from the factory. I guess people get windshield replacements all the time, so I shouldn't be too worried, right?
Anyone else run across this or have seen it happen?
Oh, and I got an '06 TSX for a loaner- nice car and all, but so glad I went with the TL!

My TL can do this, too!
If it were just cracking, I would recommend some sort of plastic/rubber treatment like F21 or 303 to restore the plasticizers. Your situation sounds a lot more serious, warranting (no pun intended) your dealership to out and out replace it. Good luck with that!
BTW, are you going with Radley? I've used them and haven't had any problems.

Sorry there aren't any pics. I thought I had attached them correctly, but they're not showing up. I'm using Picasa for my photo hosting, but apparently it's not working..
Anyways, album link is here:

Yeah, they're replacing the whole thing straight up. Glad that it happened now and not later..
And yes, I'm going through Radley. Just had my A1 done there and had no problems either. Here's hoping this goes just as well.

Safety Car
no worries acura sunroofs dont have leaking problems....I was worried myself when i took it out to do the suede headliner and i asked the tech before i did it... he said if u can take it out u can put it in and adjust it with no problems.... jus make sure u run a hose on it or wash the car on top after if the dealer doesnt do it already....im sure they check for leaks n stuff before giving it back
