Rotors

I need a set of new rear rotors since while breaking the car makes a loud knocking noise coming from the rear. After changing the pads it continues to do the noise. Any recommendations on new rotors????

There are tons of threads on this with tons of opinions.

While you search and read, you need to decide if you want near-stock performance or if you have a need for better performance. Price will be the largest factor in this.

Also, confirm that you actually need new rotors. Did you inspect them when you put the new pads on? Are you sure that the issue is not a bearing or a missing rotor or bracket bolt?

I'm still trying to locate the problem. When driving at a higher speed and when I attempt to stop I get a thumping/knocking inside the car. Sounds like its coming from the rear. At first, I thought that it was the pads so I ended changing them since they were low. The problem was slightly repaired but still there. So now I think its the rotor but not sure.

Year, miles, AT or MT?

Rotor would be low on my list (bad/sticking caliper?). I'd take it to a brake shop and let them do a free brake analysis...

^^ agree.

Check for a stuck/damaged caliper first. You might need rotor replacement, but if the cause is the caliper, you need to fix both.

Did one side have more pad wear than the other?

Yeah it seemed like one side had more wear than the other but not too much more.

Thanks to all for your input. I will take it to a break shop and see what they say since I dont want to spend the $$ on new rotors and continue to have the problem.
