Right Side Dash Rattle

Ok, I've had the TL for about 2 months now and all in all, I am extremely happy with the car. I have one rattle, however, that is driving me crazy. It sounds like it is coming from the right side of the dash near the A-pillar. Generally, I only hear it when I'm making a long, right turn, such as getting on a freeway on-ramp. Then it's sort of a constant popping, rubbing type noise. I really can't tell if it's coming from the part where the dash meets the A-pillar or whether it's part of the passenger door, such as the plastic part which is behind the dashboard when the door is closed.

Anyone else heard this noise (or a similar one) and had any luck with a fix? As always, the insight is appreciated!

I have that rattle - it's the only one, now. Other people seem to have it, too. It sounds like its inside the dashboard on the right side. The dealer said it was the glovebox, but it wasn't. When I changed the cabin air filter (a pain in the ass project...!) I had the glove box off and still heard the rattle. It's too tight under the dashboard to fish around with your hand and find anything loose. I'm hoping someone comes up with an answer - I'm just about out of guesses. My present solution is to open the sunroof or play the radio louder.

Its amazing what you hear in a car, when you have the radio off. I am almost afraid not to have, because any car I ever have, I will hear new sounds, then you have to decide if those are old sounds you forgot about, or new sounds, and if new, are they the kind to be worried about. Solution, keep the radio on all the time, and you will be a happier camper. LOL

Thanks flatfoot

I agree with the pain in the ass project... changed my cabin air filter about a week ago and accidently broke a piece of plastic with 1 of the plastic snaps still clicked in. Pissed me off. I didn't realize how the plastic snap was suppose to disconnect from the dash with resulted in the break...

I half-broke one of those awful glovebox housing clips. As you probably now know, you push in the center and it falls out. You can get a replacement from the Acura dealer (they gave it to me no charge!) but it is black and I have the quartz interior...however, you don't see the fastener except when the glovebox is open. I have to admit that taking all that stuff off to get to the air filter isn't really so bad after you do it the first time - it just seem overly complicated. My pontiac has a little door inside the glovebox that opens to access the air filters - good idea!

I have the same attle on my wdp 05 tl. I discovered that the rattle was coming from the front passenger side door storage area(at least it is on my tl). I haven't found a real solution to the problem as of yet, but I have noticed that if you pull the panel towards the driver side(into it's first open position), the rattling stops. Lemme know if this was what was annoying you guys as much as it was me.

Has anyone found that the center speaker rattles? My dashboard rattle is coming from that area, but I am afraid to take off the grille to see if the speaker is loose. Does the grille simple pry off? The dealer told me the rattle was the glovebox door and said they fixed it - they didn't. Mine isn't the door pouch or the sunglass holder or the headliner or the window trim or the sunroof air deflector.

I know I resurrected an old thread. I guess that's what search does. Regarding this noise, I notice that this happens in my car for both driver and passenger doors as well. All you need to do is push in the outer/upper corner of the map pocket nearest to the courtesy light: it really squeeks. I put a bunch of felt pads around the area but it still squeeks. I'm wondering if this noise has anything to do with a plastic tongue that seems to go into a rectangular opening to engage in the closed position?

My 05 Acura TL has been with the dealer for the last 4 days with the same rattling problem. The dealer told me today that the technician looking into it was so pissed off that he couldnt find the problem that he set my car aside to get a breather.

I dont know wether to rush him or to wait. I have a 07 RDX SUV as a loaner, which is a great vehicle.. but i miss my car..

Update ! The dealer called me today and said that they had ordered some parts and will take a day to put it in the car. The question is what parts did they order to fix the rattle ? Or did the technician screw up trying to remove the glove box ? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
