Question Reverse Squeal - Any ideas?

2005 6SP

For whatever reason in the past few days my car has now been making a high pitched squeal when I drive the car into reverse. I haven't posted on it sooner because I wanted to test exactly how and when it happens.

In reverse, cutting the wheel in either direction, (even a little bit) moving for more than.... I'd say 5 feet. Doesn't matter if I'm giving it gas or not, going uphill or downhill.

Anyone had anything like this before or know what my problem might be?

And the car is very close to 15000m/6 months old (I works sales) This something I can diagnose and fix on my own, or is it time for an early oilchange/checkup from Acura?

I too have had the same thing happen a few times in the last 2-3 weeks. It's definitely originally from the front. But it doesn't happen all the time...so I have been trying to watch for a pattern. Will post if I notice something.

I too have had the same problem, but only in reverse. I've found it only does it when the car has been sitting for a while.

Same here,if the car's been sitting a while, but only when I apply brakes. I have 6mt so I thought this was the Brembos squealing like so many have mentioned.

Yours may very well be the brakes... just a little dust, buildup, whatever. You can normally cure that for a while, as well as remove that nasty rust on your brake discs by - yes I'm being serious here, and only in a CONTROLLED situation - go about 80mph, and slam on the brakes. No need to go to a complete stop, but you will feel when you gain control and start going again.... repeat maybe 5 or 6 times. This will loosen up some of the crap that's lingering inside of there, improve the look from sh*t brown to polish 'custom finish' metal, and get some of the material from the disc onto the caliper. Makes a much better connection, will actually improve your braking for the rest of the trip and a while thereafter. Same theory as spinning the tires a little to get 'em hot, gum them up a little to get a better grip on the road.

But as per melon, papaman, and my problem.... i dunno. Pretty frustrating, and not the best time for me to lose my car to Acura for a day or two either. And I'm sure the neighbors love it when I back into my driveway at 12 midnite or later...

If anyone figures something out with this please let us all know
