Reuse rotor on only one side?
Reuse rotor on only one side?
Hello,
My driver rear caliper has begun to randomly seize and has used over 80% of my pads. I imagine the heat has damaged the rotor. I replaced all four of my original pads with OEM about 5000 miles ago. All four rotors were within spec so I reused them. The rear passenger pads have very little wear (My original pads lasted for 100,000 miles).
I ordered a set of driver and passenger rear calipers, pads, and rotors from rockauto and had planned to replace both sides but I am having trouble with one rotor screw on my rear passenger rotor.
Is it OK to just change pads, rotor, and caliper on the driver side and leave the passenger side with original caliper, 95% life pads and original (still in spec) rotors?
If not, is it OK to just change pads, rotor, and caliper on the driver side and to just change the caliper and pads on the passenger side and reuse the original (still in spec) passenger side rotors?
I’m using the lisle hand impact driver and it worked well on three of the screws but the fourth is stripping. I used Kroil on the screws overnight.
Thanks

The hand impact driver is worth it's weight in gold when it comes to taking those DAMN rotor screws out

On almost all of my cars I remove the rotor screws initially, toss them in the garbage, and never re-install them ever again.
