Resealing Headlights

Got my headlights in the oven right now...
When i reseal with silicone, what exactly do i do?
Just put some where the old silicone was and hold it together with clamps?

And also how do i remove the amber reflector without breaking the chrome line under it? Do i just break those little silver pieces holding and it'll stay there and the amber will come out?

For the chrome strip, I break off the tabs of it at the end just enough to remove them from the diffuser. After the chrome strip is removed, I remove the diffuser. Unclip the diffuser starting at the turn signal end (end of the headlight). Once it's unclipped, the other side comes out automatically.

I don't suggest using silicone to seal, instead use butyl like Nissan's Butyl or NAPA's Window Weld or 3M ribbon butyl tape.

But the chrome strip is under the amber cover? So i break all 4 silver tabs and take both out?

Take one out at a time.
It'll be easier if you're looking at it while reading this.

I assume you unscrewed the 2 screws holding the inside to the headlight lens cover and took them apart.

Looking at the diffuser area, theres 4 "plastic prongs" holding the chrome strip to the assembly. It is "melted" on, so the ends of the prongs are actually "globs of plastic". Break off the "glob", and the prongs will be straight and free to remove from the assembly.

After the chrome strip is removed, remove the diffuser.

The chrome strip is removed to the front of the car, whereas the diffuser is removed through the direction of the back of the car.
They are not removed in the same direction.

Be extra careful handling the chrome strips as the chrome will easily rub off if you wipe off finger prints. Best not to get finger prints on them.

Im bad with terms sorry a bit on the amateur side here but by diffuser you mean the whole inside of the headlight or the black piece inside?
And so once that comes off and i break the melted parts that are holding it, how will the chrome strip stay in place?

The diffuser is the orange thing.

Once you put it back together, use hot glue to hold the chrome strip where the "glob" used to be.
I do the same thing on over a dozen headlights

NAPA, cmax, or Nissan dealership.
Nissan dealership will require 2 day wait due to special order. It's also $45 at Nissan and it's $12 at Cmax.

I wouldn't use silicone, it gets messy, causes unwanted fume, and questionable reliability.
