Question Replacing sunroof switch lightbulb

I recently was sitting at a traffic light at night when I looked up and thought that it was odd that the sunroof switch wasn't lit up like the rest switches in the car. So I did some research here and discovered that it's supposed to light up.

I found a thread that mentioned how to remove the switch to access the bulb (simply pry the switch off with a small, flathead screwdriver) but I can't figure out how to remove the tiny bulb behind the switch.

I can twist the bulb which appears about 45 degrees but I can't seem to pull the bulb out. What's the trick?

Twist the bulb until it is loose, then use tweezers to pull it out.

If you can't get a good crip on the bulb, try taking some scotch tape, wrap the tape around the bulb and pull it out.

Is this question the same bulbs as shown being replaced here:

I couldn't get a good grip with needle-nose pliers so I'll try the scotch tape trick.

I'm not sure if the above-mentioned thread covers this bulb because I'm trying to access the bulb without removing the entire map light/sunroof switch module.

You're right---that thread deals with different bulbs.
The sunroof switch pops right out of the map light console---grab it and pull downward. Disconnect the connector and there ya go. Easy-Peezy!

Well, I couldn't pull the bulb out by removing the sunroof switch so I had to resort to popping out the entire map light/sunroof switch/HomeLink module as described in the other thread. It was easy to do with a small flathead screwdriver. Then I unplugged one of the two wiring harness connectors which exposed the sunroof switch bulb from the top-side. A simple little twist and the bulb (and socket) came loose.

I don't think mine lights up but I could care less... Although I will take a look at that other thread and consider replacing it if it is an easy, quick fix.

Okay, with all of the searching I was doing to figure out how to replace the bulb in the sunroof switch, I now realize that the bulb in the VSA switch is also burnt-out. I didn't realize that it was supposed to light up until I came across some posts about it.

Question is, how do I get to that bulb? Do I have to remove the entire plastic panel under the steering wheel because there isn't any bezel or housing around that switch assembly to pop out of the dash.

Yes, you have to remove the under dash panel and the lower dash panel to get to the VSA switch. Just to confirm, all of those switches light up---trunk, VSA, mirror. There is also a temperature sensor near your right knee area that needs to be disconnected before pulling the lower dash trim panel.
