Repairing LED unit in tail lights?

about half the LEDs in my tail lights have gone out and the new ones are pretty expensive even on Ebay. i have the unit out right now but am afraid to brake the LEDs off unless they can be put back on. any advice or should i buy new units?

thanks!

i think you have to replace the entire board. I have seperated the led board from the tail lights when I swapped for Type-S tails, but if half of the bulbs are out, something is wrong with the board. I highly doubt half of them went out simultaneously.

for me, when i swapped out for type s tails, the led board went out as well about half. I bought a new set of tail lights WITH the led board and swapped the LED board and they were still half out. I swapped the wiring harness to the LED board and that was the problem in my car. Not sure if this is the same problem you are having but worth a try instead of buying the whole led board.

When you access the board, I'd first recommend grabbing a 9V w/ 2 leads and a 560-ohm resistor - use these to individually test the bulbs before you do anything else. The bulbs may very well not be the problem here.
