Removing Stuck Caliper Bolts

Hello everyone,

Today I was trying to change my front rotors. However, in the process I could not remove the caliper bolts. I was using a wrench to remove the bolts. I even tried using WD-40 but I still could not remove them. Below is a picture of the bolts which I speak of. Do I need a power tool to remove the bolts? What the easiest way to remove these bolts?

Thank you

Breaker bar.

They're torqued to 125 lb-ft. Plus whatever grime, salt, corrosion, etc. Impact wrench will make quick work of 'em though.

And if you've never had the rotors off, might as well go to Sears and get an impact driver for the retaining screws on the front before you even get started.

If you haven't, when the car is in the air, turn the front wheel so you will be able to access the caliper bolts easier. A breaker bar can be used along with a good 6 sided socket and if more leverage is needed, just add a piece of pipe to the end of the bar.

Put the correct size box end wrench on the bolt head (17 or 19 mm,can't remember) keep the slack out of the wrench in the loosen direction, hit the end of the wrench several times, medium to heavy taps, med. size hammer, loosens right up. Always use the box end of the wrench for this method, tighten back up same way, experience helps for tightening. Or use socket, breaker bar & torque wrench.

I'd prefer the torque wrench. They've got free loaners at Autozone.

(The bolts are 19mm btw - just did mine last week).
