Removing Rear Rotors

Guy and Gals,

Here are a couple pictures on how the rear rotor comes off. You will need a impact screwdriver to get those two screws out, if this is the first time taking them off you really need to bang on them. I recommend using the impact screwdriver to minimize any headaches. There is a way on the blog to take the pressure off the parking brake pads by loosening the star underneath the rotor at the 6 o'clock position but that is also a pain and confusing. Using the two M8-1.25 X 50 bolts is a walk in the park. Just alternate turning each bolt until it loosens up. It pushes the rotor off very easily, banging it off can cause damage to other expensive parts. Less than $2 for the bolts at Home Depot.

Hope this helps!

I had to drill those screws out on my 05. I get why they're there, but I didn't replace them. I think the wheel holds the rotor on just fine!

Same here. I found a 7/16 bit will pop the head off in seconds.

When I changed all 4 my rotors, I had to dremel them and was able to remove it with regular flat head screw driver.
