Removing oxidation from 07 type S exhaust tips

I just picked up an Acura Certified 07 TL type S yesterday, Black on Black. I told the dealer I wanted him to swap the exhaust tip out for a nice shiny set on another Type S at the lot. Long story short , the dealer told me they are welded onto the exhaust system. So now I need some advise on polishing them or what is involved in replacing them, as well as the cost.

Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Gorr

Smile Your '07TLS

Just curious to know what a dealer charges for a CPO '07 TLS if you don't mind sharing the information such as miles, location etc.

You can PM me if you want.

2007 tls

I'm new to the forum, just bought an '07 TLS -- 32K, Certified -- 24,500. Looking forward to making new friends here. I just sold my 04 330 CIC, and before that '03 350 Z. Lots of nice people on those forums too!

I wouldn't use a Scotchbrite pad, too harsh.

Blitz also works very well -- have a few rags because it will turn the rags black and nasty.

0000 steel wool, a stainless steel brush, Bar Keeper's Friend, water, Never Dull, and some serious elbow grease worked for me. Still have a tiny bit more work to do to make them perfect, but it's a night and day difference. Unfortunately, the etching won't ever come out...I don't think the previous owner ever cleaned the tips.
