Removing front map bulbs

Is there a trick to get these bulbs out? I spent 20 minutes going side to side, up and down... I'm afraid I'll break them and completely regret this whole thing haha.

those are the worst. it took me several tries over the course of two years before I finally got mine off. in fact, those are the last bulbs in the car that I was able to swap to LED.

to give you a hint of how to remove them, try removing your trunk light. the housing is virtually the same. if you can remove the trunk light, that should give you an idea on how to remove the map lights.

Map lights?

The visor vanity lights (major PITA)? Or the over-head center dome lights (easy-peasy)?

I have put a curse on engineer who designed the vanities. He will rot in Hell for all eternity replacing vanity bulbs on a 3G TL.

that engineer definitely needs to be cursed to be trying to remove one of those for all eternity.

if you look closely, you can see my lens not resting flush, thats because ive slightly bent the metal frame in trying to pry the damn lens off without breaking it.

aaargh!

I meant the front center dome lights. I did a Google search and was able to find an Acurazine thread that suggested using tape. I used about half my roll of scotch tape but it eventually worked!

oh those are the easiest to take off! small flathead towards the front, light pry, and you're off! that gets the lens out.

the bulb, rubber gloves are your best!

+1 on scotch tape. used that for all my bulb swaps except the license plate bulbs and the reverse lights.
