Remove 9 year old 3M Clear Bra
My TL has had a clear bra from day one on the dealer lot.
But, as with anything, time wins. Over time it has slowly yellowed and has cracked all over.
I'm tired of looking at it. I've searched the forums for people removing it with no luck. I did find one discussing removing leftover residue: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/removing-large-amounts-adhesive-residue-827896/
But what do I need to do to make the process easier, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY NOT DAMAGE THE PAINT UNDERNEATH WHEN REMOVING.
Thanks. (BTW I assume I no longer have any warranty on it, its been 9 years and I'm many states away from the installer)

Find a different installer near you to remove it- you may have to pay a little, but if it's going to be a difficult job, it might be better to let a pro do it. I'm sure they would use a heat gun to soften the glue on the clear bra to make removal easier.

Might be out of luck for not removing the clear coat with it unless you're extremely careful.

Unfortunately, sometimes getting it done right at a cost trumps doing it yourself and having a poor outcome. If I was in your position, I would likely just pay to have it done right.
Here's another approach (not sure I would want to tackle this):

3M corporate recommend steam and/or heat gun. THey said if it is cracked this could be a long endeavor.
A local 3M installer asked me to come in, they said "with cracking it could be a two day job". Sounds expensive, but the cracking is only on the hood.
Has anyone done this, or had theirs removed by someone (even under warranty)? Have you seen it done?

Good lord. I'm amazed the paint is staying on with that much force being applied. Lol
