Remote Starter Problem
Remote Starter Problem
I had a remote starter - viper 2 way LED - installed on my 08 TL 2 weeks ago. It was working fine and then it stopped working. When I would hit the remote start button the car would turn on but not start. I went back to the place that installed it and he said it was because my car battery voltage was low and he reset the system. It worked fine for three days after that and then today it stopped working again. This time when I hit remote start the car would turn on and not start and then turn off and then on again without starting. I called the place again and he said the batteries on newer cars need to be a certain amount before the remote start can turn it on. My voltage was at 12.6 and when he and I tested it last time he said the battery was at 85%. He said the voltage could have dropped and that's why its not starting and after it doesn't start the car goes in to valet mode and it need to be reset. He said he can change the wiring of the remote start from digital to analog (I have no idea what that means) and that the remote start would work even if my battery is a little low due to weather. Has anyone else had this problem before. I have no idea what this guy is saying but they did get good reviews on yelp thats why I went there but now I have to take it back a second time...
I don't know much about remote starter systems, but if someone told me something like that, I would zip on over to Autozone for a free battery/alternator test to make sure everything checks out.
I also have the viper 2 way on my 07 TLS. When it is very cold outside (-20 C and colder) my car would try to start with the starter but after 3 times it would report error on the viper fob. Ever since I changed my battery, the car starts every time on the first press of the start button. No matter how cold it is outside. I live in Montreal, Canada so it can get pretty cold out here.
yeah maybe I should just change my battery then because the installer said he can change up the wiring to make it start but what i'm thinking that might do is ruin my starter... the lock and unlock on the viper remote still work but the remote start stopped working when it was really cold out and idk how to reset it. i think i have to go back to the installer to reset it which sucks.
I have 2 tl A 04 and now a 07 type s I put on my own alarm viper 5902 hidef 2 way remote start and never have this problem even when my bloutooth went bad the remote start crank the or tried too. Digital that mean is one wire connection from what the alarm gets all it need like door, lock.hood, trunk light all the status by using the (can bus) wire by the fuse box is a brown wire .
You may have a intermittent immobilizer bypass look at a little green key light when you remote start the car if is blinking that your problem.
