Rearview Mirror Does Not Auto-dim

Hey guys, I just bought this car a few weeks ago and noticed over the past few days that the rear view mirror doesn't have any power at all and therefore doesn't auto dim. The green light doesn't come on regardless of whether I push the button or not.

Yes, I've checked the fuse #20 and it's good. The memory seats work, mirrors work, and washer sprayers work fine too.

Any thoughts on what the issue is or should I be looking for a new mirror?

Interested to hear any answers on this. I have a similar problem although the green light does come on. Mine stays on dim no matter if I push the button or not.

I just noticed this in my car also.

For the hell of it, I wanted to see what it would look like if I turned the dimming off, and I clicked the button and there's no difference! Stuck in dim mode.

I found it very weird that my mirror would be dim/purple tinted during the daytime.

My green light indicator works 100%, also.

Seems like it may be related to the cold.

Check the power to the mirror, sounds like a loose connection or the mirror took a shit.

turning the dimming function on doesnt necessarily mean the mirror will dim right away. It will wait to sense too much light shining on the mirror before dimming.
you can try it by shining a flashlight on it, it should dim. I tried this on my car before.

Turn the mirror off, put your finger over the light sensor on the front (windshield side) of the mirror, turn the mirror on. You should see the mirror slowly change tint over the next 15-30 seconds. No need for flashlights. As long as there is a light difference between the sensors on each side, it "should" dim.

How does one get access to the mirror connections? My guess is that it crapped the bed but I'll at least check it out. Is fleabay the best place to buy a new one or is the dealership actually reasonable? The dealer quoted me like $550 for a new mirror in my old BMW.

On a related note, don't hang anything on your rearview mirror. It could be embarrasing when you think your mirror is broken.

If I recall, you can see the power plug if you look in through the front window. I would check mine right now, but it is covered in snow/ice at the moment.

I think the mirror is around $100 from the various vendors on here. I can't remember exactly how much, but it wasn't too difficult to replace.
