Rear view mirror

In regards to my 2004 Acura TL:

Ever since I bought my car (used) the rear view mirror has been falling off, especially on a bumpy road. Any advice on how to tighten it? It's so annoying. I don't see the point in buying a new one because the dimming still works, IT JUST FALLS OFF. If anyone has any thoughts on this matter let's hear it.

i had that problem but i had a mechanic do it for me.. i didnt really get a good look at it. it took him a while becuase he didnt want to break it. but you'll need a really good grip and a pair of good pliers. you have to squeeze a clip to make sure its gripping the mirror.

There's a TSB for this problem. Your dealer should cover it even if your past warranty:

Use the sticky link at the top of the "Problems" forum to find more TSBs and other useful info.

The 3G garage also has tons of useful info. There is a sticky for the 3G garage in the main forum.

Re: Rear view mirror

There is special adhesive required to stick to the glass and the rear view mirrors. It comes in a kit with instructions. The main thing when reattaching the mirror is make sure the glass and the mirror mount are very clean. You can get it at a Auto-parts store, I have seen the kits at Wall-mart. I glued mine on once and it's been on for years, must of got the good stuff.

Here is a site that shows the kit:

I read that TSB, bought a new clip, installed and still had the same problem. Took the mirror apart again and bent the tabs on the clip a little with some pliers and problem solved.
