Question Rear Seat Vent Control Lever

I think that is how one would describe it...

Anyways, the right vent lever that moves it up/down/left/right has become disassembled. I can still move the vent up and down, but have lost all control of left to right. I was able to fish the plastic piece that connected the lever to the vertical louvers, and it doesn't appear to be broken.

Has anybody had this problem, and is it an easy fix? I don't want to have to disassemble the entire center console unless necessary. A forum search proved inconclusive. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

On my 3G TL and my MDX I have had this problem. Basically need to remove and re-seat the vanes and replace. Kinda cheap on the mfg side.. I haven't messed with it too much but I'm sure there is a way to keep it from coming out. You may want to PM one of the mods if you can't find it in the search.. there may be a TSB concerning this problem, but it's could be simple enough that the techs may just be doing what I'm doing.

Thanks for the reply, Majofo. I spent a couple minutes yesterday looking at it, and it doesn't appear that I can fix it without taking the center console apart to access the vanes. Bummer. If anybody else wants to pipe up with a suggestion, let it fly. Thanks again...

Yeah.. after fixing my MDX I have neglected to fix the TL b/c I rarely have passengers. On the X I removed the center console.. real easy only a couple of screws and two wiring harnesses if I remember. The TL is no worse.. but I think with a careful hand and the right tools you can re-seat them without removing the center console.

Same problem, have the plastic peice

I know this is an OLD thread, but to remove the rear console, is it just the two screws behind the pull out bin? Or do you have to remove the armrest. I'd like to try before i take back to the dealer for something silly.

Just bought the car this weekend CPO and have an email in. Car is still under orginal warranty as it's an 07 w/ 31k on the odometer.

Thanks in advance,

David

Always make the dealership fix anything that's wrong with the car while it's under warranty. If you screw up and break something, they're not responsible and can charge you for the whole job.
