Rear power window not working at all

hey guys, first post here... i just bought a 2005 TL; anthracite gray with navi, and so far i really like it. there's a few things i need to fix, one of which is the right rear power window.

the window is not working at all. i hear no "click" or any sort of attempt by the motor. the green led on the button is also not lighting up. because of this, i'm wondering if maybe the window isn't getting power at all. i tried replacing the fuse, to no avail. i also noticed that when i took the fuse out of a working window, it still "clicked" when i pushed the button, even if it didn't roll down.

i should note that the power lock still works, so some part of the door is getting power. does anyone have any idea what a solution might be based on what i described? if i have to replace the regulator, do you have any idea how much of a bitch it would be to replace myself? i found the guide, and it doesn't look easy or fun. thanks.

No warranty left I'm assuming? Get it checked out, and then buy the parts cheap from junkyard or ebay or www.acuraoemparts.com

how many miles on it? Call the dealer, give them the VIN and ask if it has an extended warranty. YOu might be able to get it done under warranty if you have any left. If not, I would take the door-panel off and find the wires to the motor. Using a multimeter, check if they have power, if so the regulator might be bad. If not, follow the wires to the short, disconnect or to wherever they lead to.

if it was, the light on the switch would not be on and the other windows wouldn't open

Maybe the harness isn't plugged in due to some sort of repair after they removed the panel and forgot to plug it back in.

i tried the window lock-out button (obviously not it), and the child safety lever... from what i gather, if the button isn't lit, it may indicate that the motor is fine, it's just not getting power. is that right?

and no, it isn't under warranty... although at least i caught before i bought it and the dealer gave me a concession to fix it.

are you buying a car from the acura dealership? If the awnser is yes, call acura client services as this car was falsely certified pre-owned and could have other issues with it. They will take care of you. Also they should give an extended warranty to 5 years 52000 miles or something around there.

no the car isn't under warranty or certified pre-owned. if it was, i'd be talking to the dealership...

has anyone had their motor burn out? if you did, did it still "click?" mine doesn't click or do anything at all. i haven't really had time to look at it much past that, but i will look this weekend...

ya... my rear window doesnt work either. I took it to the dealer cause it was under warrenty and i thought it was the child lock option but they said that when my windows were tinted they forgot to plug in one of the harness. it will cost me 90.00.
i still havent gotten it fixed. I'm just afraid that maybe its not the harness and its somthing else and my warrenty will run out.
Is it easy to take the door panel off, anyone know pls. thanx.

fixing it looks like it would be a bitch... and i'm worried i'll create a rattle in the process. i think i might go take a look at it right now before it gets to dark (it's already cold)

i hope it's just a harness that's loose or something

Problem fixed! It was the power window connector that was not connected for some reason. I partially removed the door panel and plugged in the connector. I'm guessing maybe something in the door was fixed at some point and the tech forgot to plug the connector back in.

Really glad I saved myself $125 to have the dealership diagnose and "fix" the problem

if indeed the harness was simply not plugged in (which was my problem), the fix is really easy. just follow the instructions for taking the rear panel off. there are two screws to remove and then you just have to "pop" the rest of the panel off. start at the rear, right below the window and above the door latch. stick a screw driver covered with a towel between the plastic panel and metal door and slowly pry. then just work your way down and around to the front. you'll be able to pry the panel open far enough to see if it's connected and to plug it back in if it is not. it's a light blue connector. you'll see where to plug it in if you look up from underneath the door. then just push all of the clips back in and you're done. really easy.
