My kids turn on the rear map/dome lights while reading or playing games in the back seat. Since these are children, they don't always remember to turn the lights off when they get out of the car.

Unfortunately, these lights stay on after the car is turned off and locked. I have come back hours later and the lights are still on.

Based on my reading of the manual, these lights should dim and turn off automatically when the car is locked.

Based on extensive searches of these forums, it doesn't appear that other people have reported this problem.

Has anyone else seen this? Can someone try it? I'm not sure if this is my problem or a problem for the dealer.

that is a normal thing. It was designed not to turn off when it is manually turned on by pushing up on the light, not by using the main switch up front.
