Thumbs down rear end rape

Eh I basically got my TL just 1 week ago
Used 31k Miles 2004 Silver TL + 50k Extended Warranty for $18,100 with tax. Which is pretty amazing considering how worth it this car is!

Anyway the story was. My TL's tires treads were pretty much gone. So we went, and got them replaced at the dealership today. After that I decided to go see a movie with my parents. I'm backing up a little in the parking lot, then boom get rear ended by some guy. (hit and run)

P.s "I get my license in 2 weeks so I'm still on a permit" driving on liability insurance so nothing can be done about it really.

My question is

#1 Do I just take it to the collision center for our local Acura dealership @ the collison center, and waste $300. Getting a new stock OEM bumper.

OR

#2 Just get a body kit. Because this is the type of TL i'm aiming to turn mine into

I simply cannot understand why people buy a decent vehicle and get only liability coverage. Either way, live with the damage and get the ron jon kit if thats what you are planning to do anyways. Like you said before, it would be a waste of 300 bucks.

Ouch that sucks man! I usually only get liability on beater cars, the TL on the other hand deserves full collision coverage.

???

Aren't you guys reading the part where I only have my permit right now. Obviously I'm going to get full coverage on my TL once I have my license.

I've decided to get a Duraflex Fiberglass rear bumper which weighs 70% less than stock, and the A-Spec lip kit for the front and side stock OEM's

Dude, did you buy this yet? If yes CANCEL IT!

1. It's rice to the max
2. It looks ugly
3. Even though it's cheap, your going to spend a lot of money getting it properly fitted to your car:
"** Aerodynamics and ground effects are shipped unfinished and require prep-work before painting. Always dry fit your parts before starting any prep work or painting. Some modifications to stock mounting hardware may be necessary and may require some fabrication of brackets and mounting hardware. We advise professional installation at a facility with custom car and body kit experience. We do not advise installation by collision only repair shops."

^ Thats the 3rd one down, your going to spend a TON of money to get it fitted and painted. Go with a stock bumper and get it painted, max 600 dollars. If you want to go aftermarket, go with ron jon. A member is currently selling one here:

All that shit looks horrible... man up and get your car back to OEM. Dont treat a TL like some Civic your homie hooked you up with for 300 bucks.... Welcome to the bigs.... Time to treat your car like you made it out of the bush league....

Um ok I might do this instead. Get my bumper repaired, then put the a-spec spoilers on the bottom for front sides/back.

But wouldn't a type-S bumper look funky with the base TL exhausts?

How do you get hit in a parking lot while you're in the car and not chase the guy down or at least follow until you can get a license plate?

I'm with everyone else: get it repaired, get a new OEM, or Ron Jon. Easy for me to say, but the damage just doesn't look that bad. I'd just get it fixed or live with it until I had the $$$ to do something different.

I can't tell from the pics if the bumper actually cracked or if the paint just cracked. If it's just the paint, get it repainted and call it a day. If the bumper is cracked, get estimates on repairing it (usually as much as a new bumper). If it's much cheaper, go for the repair. If it's close to the price for a new bumper, go with a new one.

It's not hard. Just time consuming. I wouldn't waste any money on that bumper because if it gets hit again it will be a waste. It isn't that bad. Save your money.

it's not that hard to do if you have a buddy helping you and you take your time. Keep towels handly so you can put the bumper on the ground a bit more easily.

I feel for ya. This happened to me once, years ago in a CRX. Dude tried to run, but I chased him down while telling the cops how to find us on the cell phone.

Irony: in mine, he did absolutely no damage, but got arrested for fleeing the scene of an accident. Oops
