Rear bumper wont fully clip back in after taking it off.

Looking for any ideas. The bumper was flush with the quarter panel prior to removing the bumper. This is right under the tail light where the bumper meets the quarter panel. It seems to bulge out a little and I made sure the clips on the bumper are all going over the black piece it should attach to under the light.

You'll need to replace the clips. I had the same problem and replacing the clips solved it. Hope that helps.

You might be able to bend back the plastic prongs that latches to the bumper, on the black plastic bumper clip. I would take it apart and inspect for anything that looks broken, worn, or being obstructed.

thanks guys. Ill take it apart again and inspect it, just seems like the bumper wont go in all the way and clip, maybe something is blocking it.

I tried to pull and bend as well, with no luck. I even tried to reposition the clips...If your going to take it back apart order the new clips 1st..

clip one side of the bumper in and make sure all of the bumper tabs underneath the car are correctly positioned or else it's going to cause the bumper to not fit right when u try to clip the other side in. once u align the tabs on the bottom there should be enough room, or nothing obstructing the bumper, to have it clip in on the opposite side.

Thanks again guys, if Im going to take this bumper off again. Id rather spend the $8-10 and buy a new clip in case it is bad/broken first.

I peeled the bumper away on the one side and noticed the clip is perfectly fine and not damaged. All I had to do was loosen up the two 10mm bolts at the top of the bumper by the trunk lid and push the one side in as I tightened the bolt and it is back aligned now. Thanks guys!
