Rear Brakes Squealing extremely loud!

So i was driving today an out of nowhere noticed a really loud screaching sound coming from my car. I narrowed it down to my rear brakes. Its really annoying and im not sure if its my pads or not. I was just at acura last week an they said all the brake pads were low but i dont know why only the back ones are doing this an they said i should be fine till next oil change. Their is not only a metal-ish sound but also like a squeal as if you were letting the rest of the air out a balloon an pinching the end. Gonna try to get my brakes done in the next couple days and i really hope it solves the problem. Anyone know what it could be?

Could be the pads moving inside the caliper and this will cause the squeal, but usually if this conditon persists, when one pushes the brake pedal harder the sound will cease as the added pressure keeps the pads from moving.

It could also be the low pad indicator contacting the rotor to give notice the pads needs replacement.

It could also be a seized caliper. Next time you drive the car, check to see if one of the rear calipers/rotors is considerably hotter than the other. If so, you have a seized caliper and it will burn up the pads and rotor in no time. This is a very common problem on the TL for unknown reasons. Search the board for a current thread regarding this exact issue. The other option is simply worn pads, a simple inspection will figure that out.

Also could be the rear backing plate, sometimes if you run over something or something hits it it'll bend it ever so slightly;and it will cause a scraping/squealing noise.
I know you said you believe it's the brakes, but I'm just throwing out ideas to give you somewhere to look.

edit: the rear backing plate is exactly what it sounds like. Located behind the rotor. It is a round metal shield with the same diameter as the rotor.

thanks guys for the input, i went an made an appointment do get my rear pads done tomorrow. The sound stopped for a little bit today after driving for a little bit but then started back up again. Will they readjust the backing plate when they do the pads if thats the issue? They said theyre gonna do an inspection first to see whatsup. And if it is a seized caliper it just has to be banged out an greased to correct the issue right?

If it's seized it likely needs to be replaced. The piston would be seized in the caliper bore. Requires replacement unfortunately. I did knock the piston out of mine to clean it up just to buy some time until I get the opportunity to replace it.
