Rear brake squealing noise while driving
Hey,
I just noticed while driving that my rear driver brake is making a squealing noise when driving.
It is WORST when I'm backing up. It makes a constant loud squeal noise when I'm backing up.
When I'm driving forward, it's not a constant squeal, but intermittent (goes with my wheel speed) and LOUD.
Any suggestions?
It's really embarrassing since it's so loud.
My rear brake pads have plenty of meat left.

On my old Nissan Altima, I had a similar issue, though it was more of a screeching than a squealing. I took it apart and found that one of the brake pad covers (I'm not sure about the terminology) came loose and was rubbing against the rotor. Once I remove it, the sound disappeared and it was free to fix!
Take the wheel off and see what's happening down there. Maybe a piece of debris got caught in there. Also on my Nissan, a leaf (yeah, like... from a tree) got stuck near the caliper and was making a loud noise.
The first thing to do is a visual inspection and see if it's all in order. If it's that loud, the problem will likely be very obvious to identify. If not, then I would start with disassembling, cleaning, and greasing all of the parts. Good luck!

Had the exact same problem (squeal while backing up) and it was a seized piston/caliper. It started to squeal while backing and eventually got worse and squealed all the time. Very embarrassing. Not saying this is your problem, just an idea.
