Exclamation Really odd heat issue.....

On my 05 TL i have noticed that the car stays really hot for an extended period of time, for example, ill drive for around 30-35 min, car will be warmed up, get back in two hours later, and the car is just as hot as it was. Its 32 degress outside and its still that hot after two hours?

im just really worried that it could be over heating while im driving and my thermo not tell me.

anything helps!!!

by hot, i assume you read the coolant temperature on the gauge, right? at 32F outside, after 2 hours, it should drop to min i think, if i 'm you i will check coolant level, but supposedly even coolant is low, it still shouldn't read the same after 2 hours. if cooling system is ruled out, i will check temperature sensor, they can go wrong, last time i intentionally spray some water under the front grill, the sensor is off for a whole 2 days, then it go back to normal, again. Let us know.

If there is a bit of exaggerate in your description, I would say the heat issue is normal. Although in 32 degree weather, the temp (as seen on the gauge) should drop some after two hours.

I do very much remember that I had the same thought too when I first got my TL. My previous car was an older 1992 Acura Legend coupe. So in comparison to my old car, I was shocked to see how the new TL retained so much heat for so long.

By the way, see the link below to see why this happens. Basically, it is because the TL is built like an oven (insulated) under our hood.

better explain your definition of "hot" and there may be some better answers for you. do you just mean the internal gauge is still in the "good" region after two hours...is it actually overheating...is the coolant still at the "hot" level. stuff like that.
