Rattling metal noise coming from glove compartment
Hey guys,
I've tried doing some research on this issue and it seems it's pretty well known, but most of the threads I've found generally tend to be mostly people acknowledging the noise exists, but not too many solutions.
I know it's the glove compartment box because the noise has been coming for years but it's been getting worse and worse fast lately. I used to be able to just open the glove compartment and the noise would be gone, but that doesn't help as much anymore.
I should mention, I only hear this noise when driving really fast on the highway, or hitting bumps.
I tried driving around with the glove compartment locked today, and I thinkkk it helps a little. Can't tell if it's placebo effect.
The only solution I've read about is either taking it to the dealer (I'm out of warranty) or applying some sort of cushion on the top corners of the glove compartment box, to help reduce the vibration.
I'm gonna poke around after work today, but if anyone has any different ideas or solutions, I'm all ears.
Thanks!

They call for replacement on some parts but realize they will warp slightly out of shape and thus sometimes it's better to simply dampen what's moving. It wouldn't be really ghetto if it was like this straight out of the factory.

Are you referring to this? sorry for the dumb Q

It isn't exactly "loose" but when I flick it, I hear the exact rattling noise I hear as when I'm driving really fast or hitting bumps.
Also, I just found this on the floor of my front passenger side floor. Is it of any significance? (total noob here haha sorry guys)

Also, in the past, just leaving my glove compartment open used to solve the issue, but that hasn't been much help as of lately.
I'll try to actually take the bad boy apart when I get some free time later today or tomorrow..
Thanks for all the help guys!

Both of my previous TL had interior noise problem from the beginning of purchase. I think the window and glove compartment rattles were pretty common for 3G TL. I brought mine in to the dealer and they said that's how it's built and they couldn't do anything about it? lmao Later on that day, I got me some adhesive weather strip from Home Depot and problem solved for the window instantly. As for the glove box, I just ignored the noise.

I had the irritating noise for a couple years, and when I finally went to change the cabin air filter (take off the glove box and the panel behind it) I saw a screw fastener loose and tightened it right up.
