Smile Rattle fixed!

After living with the most annoying rattle from left heater vent (rattled since new), decided to take things into my own hands and not wait for the dealer to say: "No problem found at this time."

If you hear a rattle near the left vent or radio tweeter, it's coming from the heat tunnel plastic pipe that leads into the exterior heat vent.

Remove the left vent (pops right out), and force (squeeze) the plastic pipe down approx. 1/4 inch so it doesn't rattle against the top of the dash when you drive over bumps. I am going to install felt strips at the top of the pipe so if it raises again it won't make noise. Vent assembly pops right back in after you tweak the plastic pipe downwards. LOL

Thanks for sharing nednj36!

I have a rattle in the same area, I will now take the time to perform your "mod".

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I've got a rattle/buzz coming from the driver's side vent too. I put a cut piece of towel where you recommended (to prevent future rattles) but mine is coming from the faux carbon fiber trim. If I push on the CF trim while driving, it stops. Any idea on how to fix?

Also, I found out (the hard way) that the pass side does not simply pop out. There is a screw under the carbon fiber trim that runs above the glove box, FYI.

I had a buzz/rattle coming from the pass side vent that was driving me crazy. Found out that if you pull the vent out (remember the screw on the left side) and wedge something (again, I used and old towel) to the right side of the HVAC tubing you'll vanquish the rattle/buzz. Gotta get it in there tight.

this remind me the customer service experience of acura vs lexus. when my wife's 09 lexus was under warranty, there was a rattle so I took it in. they give me a loaner car and I was on my way. picked up the car after work. rattle fixed and they topped off the gas tank for free. and a wash of course.
