Rattle in driver's door pocket
Rattle in driver's door pocket
I'm getting a rattle/buzz from my driver's door pocket area when I drive over RR tracks or similar bumps.
I can stand outside the car with the door open and hit the door panel right above the courtesy light with my fist and make it vibrate and rattle like crazy, but I can't see anywhere to put felt tape, etc., even when I open the door pocket. But it's obviously the pocket mechanism.
I've searched and checked the 3G Garage and the TSB's and don't see this one. Is it a common problem? (BTW, it's an '06).
TIA for any ideas and help. If I can fix it myself I will, but otherwise it goes back to the dealer.

Well... what I did might be a little extreme...
There is a mechanism that prevents the door from opening during hard cornering right next to each door pocket.
I simply removed the mechanism and glued the lid to the door panel using silicone sealant (so it's reversible)
It has being very quiet from that area since.

Guess I'll see what the dealer says. Can't believe I'm not the first to have this, since the whole door pocket assembly is so prone to movement and rattling.
my passenger door pocket makes a weird ticking noise over bumpy roads and i finally found that the sound was coming from the rubber stopper. i'm going to refer to the front passenger pocket but you might find the same thing in a mirrored position for your driver side: at the top corner of the door pocket, near the back side (side closer to courtesy light), you will find a tiny round rubber leg about 1/8 inch in diameter. this is the part that actually makes contact with the door panel when the pocket is closed. i noticed that the sound in my car was from the little rubber leg vibrating against the vinyl (sounded like something sticky was sticking and unsticking to the vinyl very rapicly. i stuck a piece of paper towel there and it temporarily stopped the noise ( i never use that pocket). i'm just waiting for when i have time to go back to the dealer to point that out to them. my car is only 4 months old. hope that helps.
now if someone could tell me why my driver door has a sound like leather rubbing against itself when i'm driving around 70mph+ it's in the part above the arm rest. if i put pressure against the door panel the sound stops. anyone know how to fix that? other than going to the the dealer. i can't exactly take them out for a drive at 70mph just to show them.
