Quick Questions '06 TL
Quick Questions '06 TL
I purchased an '06 TL Navi/Auto last week. (8,000 miles) I have encountered two small problems. I checked FAQ/Posts and don't see similar problems.
1) My average MPH on the digital display is stuck at 24, any idea's?
2) Michelin front tires get roadway marks on the sidewall.
a) Inflation Pressure is correct.
b) Wheel has no deformation.
c) Driving is not so 'spirited' that I expect it to be the cause.
Are the Michelins a different psi than what the door jamb decal specify's?
Any other idea's?

My guess on what you mean is that there are wear marks on the side tread of the tires? If so this could be a normal characteristic of the tires because of the larger profile side wall, as long as your tires pressures are set to the door jamb specs which is correct for these tires you should be ok. If you are getting excessive outter wear it could be an alignment problem. As for the mpg on the MID, change your driving habits to be more agressive and watch to see if the average MPG will go down, if not there could be a problem, plus im not so sure if it is completely accurate and how often the system updates.

1) Re-set the MID by keeping the upper button pressed down. Otherwise, it will keep calculating the average MPG and MPH until re-set. It looks like the car was usually in mixed driving rather than highway driving.
2) Try using 35 PSI, measured cold-- after car has been sitting a while- preferably overnight, in front to see if that helps. I personally prefer 37F/33R on my auto-- car seems to respond better with no deterioration in ride, and the tires are in good shape.
The door jamb decal is a recommendation-- it's OK to use between 32 PSI and 40 PSI(measured cold).
