Pulling out the CD deck

I am interested in getting at the AUX input on the rear of my CD deck. Does anyone know how to pull the deck out of the dash to access this ?

Does anyone know how to remove the CD player from the dash, do you just pop off the silver trim and take out a few screws?

It's actually a lot more complicated than just removing the silver trim and screws...I have an 04 with Navi and I had to remove not just those, but also the vents, navigation setup and THEN I was able to remove the audio unit.

Here's the link to a thread with lots of videos:

I'm gonna also try to find the pages from the service manual with the specific info.

Nope bro, I'm not shitting you. I was totally blown away by the instructions when I read them back in October (I bought the car in September, CD player died a week after I got it). Being someone that has NEVER taken apart anything in their car besides engine maintenance, I was really scared about doing it and doing something that would cost me hundreds of bucks.

The worst part is that you have to remove the glove box AND the paneling under the steering wheel so you can remove the side panels that flank the center console. The car looks great, sure, but it's unbelievable to do all that just for a CD unit.

I've done it three times now since November and I'm not scared to do it anymore. Still annoying as heck to do it and takes a while if you want to do it right and not break any clips or lose screws.

You don't need to remove the glove box or trim under the steering wheel. You also don't need to remove the trim on the sides of the center console.

Cliff notes: Just remove the silver trim pieces, and then remove the screws for the center console and slide it back. Remove the trim around the shifter, remove the screws for the coin tray stuff, and remove that whole piece. Pull out the center vents (can be tricky without the right tool), and remove the two silver bolts up there. Remove the misc screws on the side trim pieces. Now the only thing left to do is remove the two silver bolts that are for the bottom of the unit. Just gently flex the panels to the side to get to them.

This is how I do it at work everytime, including my own car. You can have the audio unit out in 10 mins, no prob. Def not a hard project, though as you stated, if you're not familiar with the process, it can seem a little overwhelming!
