Programming a spare Transponder Key

Is there a way to program a Transponder key without taking the car and key to the dealership? I have a blank key that I purchased as a replacement online and have been trying to avoid going to the dealership and spending $200 to get it programmed to user.

Usually there is no way around this with the transponder key. But if you have a good key shop local that is "high tech" maybe they have the equipment... it may be cheaper than dealer.

I actually just trying to program the key. I purchased a blank replacement key and wanted to program it to have it cut for use.

I did the same thing you did, bought a blank transponder key and wanted the dealer to cut/program it. Dealer cost was $20 to cut it, $70 to program it and $5 for shop supplies (what a fudge for this one), total $95. If I had this done again, I would go to ACE Hardware and have them cut it for $2 and do the rest at the dealer. Your quote seems high. (The dealer did state, since it was an aftermarket blank, that if the key didn't work after programming, it was my problem.)
