Problems after changing rear brakes
Problems after changing rear brakes
hey so i changed my rear rotors today it brakes fine but i have couple issues all on the right side the left side is good, i did have to loosen the parking brake to get the rotors off. so here's the 3 things
first i noticed the driver side wheel spins easily while the passenger is kind of hard
second after the brake change there is a metal grinding noise its not the back shield i pushed that back and the noise is still there.
third my e brake stopped working i did tighten the spring back so i have no idea what it could be
im thinking all 3 problems have something to do with the parking shoes has anyone had a similar problem
thanks
thanks

1. adjust the driver side brake so that it just barely grabs the wheel. losen the passenger side so it does the same.
2. bleed your rear calipers
3. did you lubricate your caliper pins?
4. adjust your parking brake from inside the car (the fine adjustment)

Ok so heres the updates, I adjusted the parking brake again and now the handbrake is working again, I didn't play with the settings inside the car, the only thing that's still there is the noise which I cant seem to figure out any one know if im missing something
The noise is from your shield hitting the edge of the inside of your rotor. I did the same thing. Like me, you probably forgot to release the e-brake to pull the rotors off after you loosened the screws (you were probably ecstatic that you got those POS off that you just wanted to yank those stinking rotors off).
So, in the process of doing that, you probably bent the fine edge of the shield up/down. And now, the noise comes from certain parts of the INSIDE (inside the rotor that covers your e-brake assembly/hub). So, slowly go around with a flathead screw driver and hammer to slightly knock it back down again. I just went through this hassle myself. My issue was I tightened the star wheel adjuster too much... forced the rotor in... couldn't turn it to readjust/loosen and couldn't get it off
That should work. Also, sometimes in very rare instances, your shim might be slight rubbing against the face of the rotors depending on how hard you forced those shims in there. That should do it
