Problem with smooth rpm
Problem with smooth rpm
When I push gas pedal very smooth engine gets higher RPM but in some point about 1100-1300 RPM the engine do not goes smooth up. During pressing pedal in this point RPM go down and when you pass this point everything goes smooth. I can also see this point when is neutral gear. I am pressing pedal smooth the arrow RPM goes up when gets this point stays or goes little down when pass this point starts to go up first very fast and later smooth. This situation makes problem when I start drive on first gear from 0mph speed and when I change the gear special 1-2. I can not start smooth and change gear smooth. Changing higher gears I do not feel too much . There is not this problem when engine is cold and uses automatic choke. This is 95Tl 6speed 60K miles but problem is from beginning. All may live (I come from Europe) I use only stick cars and never I had this kind problem. Anybody knows anything about. Sorry with my language. Please answer. Adam

Secondly, there is no choke on an '05 TL, or just about any other modern car I would bet. Two things come to mind right away. A sticking throttle body valve (the butterfly plate) or a dirty fuel delivery system. It's easy to clean the throttle body butterfly plate and its seats. To clean out the fuel system, you might need to get a professional do a flush (make sure it is safe for all of the seals and such first).
problem RPM
This is me again off course this is 2005 TL 6spd. If this is problem with no clean gas line why problem is from beginning (from brand new car), why always happened at same RPM and why not happen at higher RPM when engine takes more gas. Thank you. Adam
A 2005 (Lord, I see I wrote a 1005) is hardly a new car, though I admit it does feel like that. If you are the originial owner and have experienced this from day one, why didn't you take it in to have it checked? If you bought it used, you most likely do not know how the prior owner(s) maintained and treated the car.
I have two 3G TL's: an '04 manual and an '05 automatic and neither of them exhibit the sort of problem you have described and I can't say I recall anyone else having anything like this occurring with their TL's here on this site.
As for why this kind of thing might happen, if it was a "carburetor" engine, the answer would involve the transition from the primary to secondary metering circuits and perhaps adjustments needed to the float bowl levels. But these engines are fed by electronically controlled fuel injection systems so there should be no transition problems at all.
If there is no "dirt" problem then I might suspect a MAP sensor or perhaps the throttle position sensor. As for why it doesn't happen at higher RPMs, that's most likely because of harmonics.
