Hey guys, haven't been around here in awhile, im having a problem with my TL, its a 2004, out of warranty and prefer to not bring it to the dealership. So heres the problem. When i turn the car on, the left blinker indicator light stays on, if i try to use the blinkers they don't work when the lights are on. When i turn the lights off or turn on the brights, the blinkers work and the indicator is normal, but it goes very fast. The left headlight does not work, when i turn on the left blinker, the light blinks like a strobe light but the right light blinks correctly. I brought it to a body shop, they changed out the bulb but that wasn't the issue. He checked the some of wires to make sure there was current going to them, they seemed fine. not sure about the inner wiring, the guy said that the switch might be bad. Anyone ever hear of this? can someone point me in the right direction? im in Morristown NJ, if anyone has any good ideas, or can even recommend a body shop. Ive been waiting almost 2 and a half weeks because the part that is needed is on backorder or something i don't know how much truth is behind that. Please give me the good old AZ guidance. thanks!

 

Maybe you HID ballast needs to be replaced. Although that should not affect the turn signal.

If not you have a fun electrical problem on your hands.

 

That potentially sounds like the switchgear. Ive seen a number of newer BMW's with issues like this due to the in car switch.

Im not saying this is your problem, but perhaps this is cheaper than many other parts and its worth a shot!

when you say SwitchGear is that the switch that controls all the external lights? the body shop said it was a switch problem. I really hope its not a ridiculous electrical problem, because it would be bullshit being that my warranty ended like 2 months ago. anybody else chime in?

 

same thing going on with my 05 tl going on my 4th new hid bulb and now my turn signal and side marker lights work when they want 2 going in again on the 7th let u know what they say this time could also be a bad ground....
