Problem with A/C. Check the video
Hi folks,
I have strange working of A/C in my Acura TL 3G.
It was cooling not good enough, I visited AC service, they refilled system but niticed that I have leak in compressor and they told that it need to repair, my A/C will not works good.
My A/C was cooling before I visited service, but after that bocome even worse. A/C work some time, than start on-off-on-off...
The the video:
Who knows what can be a reason of such strange work?

Probably low on refrigerant. The pressures are high when compressor not running, but as the compressor cycles, it draws down the pressure, too low, and the low pressure sensor cuts the power to the compressor, then it starts all over again.
Best to put gauges on the system to check the charge and verify what I stated, but if there is a leak in the system this needs to be repaired. My opinion is not to add a sealant to stop the leak.
Repair the leak, depending on where the leak might be another compressor may be needed, vacuum system, charge with proper amount of refrigerant. If there is wetness around the area, may want to add some Pag oil, but if it is the compressor, it should come with the correct amount of oil.
Last week worked on a VW GTI that was out of refrigerant. Turned out to be just an "O" ring, hose to compressor. Installed new O ring and it was good to go.

That's a shady as hell garage if they knew there was a leak in your A/C yet they still filled it. They can get fined by the EPA for doing such. If they're willing to do something illegal, then I wouldn't call them trustworthy.
HFC-134a is not ozone depleting but it still has high global warming potential.

The main reason can be that the low presure is too low?
But here is two things:
1. A/C works fine when you just switch it on for maybe 10-15 minutes than it start on-off-on-off. The more hot weather outside - the more earlier start this cycling
2. Before I visited AC service, I didn't have this problems. AC worked without this swicth off, but it was not cooling well.
I suggest that reason can be that system overheat and it switch off.. but why is it happen?

There is a thermal protection switch, but I don't believe it would cause rapid cycling. It would shutoff the compressor for an extended period while it cooled down.
You could DIY and use AC Pro. I know several folks who used this stuff to refill and cure leaks. It worked great for them, YMMV. It has refrigerant, lubricant and sealer.

Hello everyone.
I have solved this issue and maybe my experience will be usefull.
I have bourght A/C Pro in AutoZone, connected to my car and figured out that my system was overcharged. Arrow showed pressure in red area! And it was a reason why A/C switched off time to time. I reduced pressure to normal level in "green area" according to arrow - and now my A/C works perfetly!

Funny, this just happened to my dads corolla. There was too much pressure causing it to leak and blow warm. Turned down the pressure and all is well! Funny the shop didn't realize that the pressure was too high
Glad you figured it out. Enjoy the cool air this 4th!
