$550 for all the work you specified sounds actually pretty good if it includes the valve adjustment (even if you're providing the parts).

550 for labor is way to much in my opinion. I charge 200 plus cost of parts to do a timing belt, t-belt tensioner, h20 pump, front crank seal, drive belt , topping off coolant and spark plugs if I do it on the side and if they want a valve adjustment add 100 to it plus parts

OP, so for $550 labor you're getting:

oil change
serpentine belt
spark plug change
crank seals replaced
all pulleys replaced
TB service
valve adjustment

I'd say that's a fair price for labor

$300 would be a great deal. Too bad you're not in the Norfolk area...

Wow... I was quoted for $600 labor for
- timing belt
- water pump
- idler+tensioner pulleys
- hydro tensioner
- camshaft seals
- serpentine drive belt
- spark plugs
And an additional $300 for valve adjustment. I knew this was on the higher side, but had no idea it was that bad. Guess I need to shop around.

Don't think you are getting ripped off, but not an uber deal. Honda dealers should be able to do the job for roughly that amount.

Correct...but I said Honda.

In my area, the Honda dealership was the same as going to an independent shop. Acura was about double what Honda was charging.

Paul, our mechanic in NJ charges $250 for the valve adjustment. $400 total labor if the valve adjustment and the timing belt job are done at the same time. Just add the Aisin kit! That means around $600 parts and labor, just like when I did my clutch.

Good info, my 2004 MDX is at 205K and need a valve adjustment. I may just have the valve adjustment and the timing belt job done together.
