So was driving home one day after work when boom! shake shake crack pop when i was taking a left turn. wtf i thought. nearly home took right turn ultra boom boom popping noise. grrr stopped looked under car nothing wrong visibly. made it home jacked up car saw nothing wrong figured was an axel went kaput purchased left side replaced myself. problem still there. then i said F it i have warranty made my way to Price Acura. they said 110 for di-ag found that the issue was coming from tranny. gave them go ahead to dig deeper not knowing if it would be warrentyed but had no other choice. got a call following monday saying they found the differential was completly destroyed and that they were not going to warranty bc was not manufacture defect and basically stating i misused/abused car...im like wtf!!! then want to quote me 7k for repairs!! these people r on crack!! first off I've only owned car 6 months and only put about 5k miles on it. getting out military in dec why the F would i abuse car beyond its limits. the district manager no help service manager worse won't budge saying never n her day has she seen this or her 20year vet techs. car has 32k miles 08 TL-S 6speed. yes its lowered a tad on ht spec type 1s and have aftermarket wheels. filed complaint with acura relations and they say my car has many modifications and looks like maybe car is used other than daily use according to price acura report. freaking ridiculous so now waiting for final decision from relations but in mean time have tranny on the way 1600 later.

They have to show that either the modifications caused the issue or show that you abused the car to deny warranty.

Consider a consultation with a local consumer advocacy lawyer (like a lemon law lawyer). Just to see what they say.

 

sorry to hear about the car.

the dealer has to be able to prove you abused the car. they are essentially profiling you. you have mods therefore you must street race or track the car. its stupid. its a bad correlation with wheels and suspension mods harming the engine/tranny. YOU may have not abused the car, the previous owner may have esp with a 6 spd MT. so who knows. your age may also work against you too with the mods.

the dealer is going to find a way to make money. you paying cash vs warranty does that. i'd put up a good fight to see if some of this can be goodwilled (if the dealer doesn't budge) if not covered by warranty. be civil and persistent. see what comes of it...again they have to prove that you abused the car. and just b/c of the suspension and wheel mods doesn't mean you go around racing everyone. you're an enthusiast, not an irresponsible driver (at least i hope not). good luck and let us know how it all turns out.

BS, don't let that shit go dude. Get on there ass contact the correct people, When I took my Mazda in for the PT warranty for my tranny I didn't have to pay the di-nog fee.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if the dealer will say "hey...Acura Corporate is willing to goodwill it.....but...........you just have to pay a participation fee."

I had to fight with my dealer about my TB (broke at 51k miles), search for my thread. It was almost a waiting game type of thing. The first couple of weeks the SA was like "yes..I'll try hard to warranty it," then...."you might have to pay for diagnostic fee.." then a month later.."hey acura is willing to goodwill it." It was a waste of time fighting with them even though I was still well under my powertrain warranty.

You should give a call to Acura Care and talk to someone there about what's going on.

Update: Acura relations called and said sorry at this time we cannot provide assistance seen that coming a mile away just how the case manager was talking to me. Grrrrr wish I was back home in Texas ware people r easier to talk with n there to help not F OVER. Tranny arrives 2mrw then dropping off at Acura w psngr side axel for install. Should have car back late Friday w closeout price of 1405 for labor. That included the di-ag n new driver side lower ball joint. FML but cannot go without my car no longer!! Delaware sucks!!

 

I thought about this thread the other day. Dealer said my warranty was voided because I installed the SC. 2006 with 60,000 miles and the tranny blew.

Honda denied my friend that blew his motor on a 06 civic, because he had an aftermarket muffler, not cat back or anything just the muffler.

 

So tired of Acura/Honda's shit. Next time I'm buying a Lexus.
