Power steering pump dying

Well, my power steering pump is on it's last legs. Typical Honda, this will be the 4th Honda/Acura I've had to replace the pump.

My question is should I spend the $230 from Delray Acura or spend between $60-$90 for a remanufactured one from Rockauto or a local parts store?

you should spend $20 on new seals and call it a day. it's extremely common on hondas/acuras. I've done probably close to 10 power steering pump rebuilds now between TL/tsx/accord

For $20, I think I'll order the Gates kit from Rockauto. I couldn't find any on the local autoparts websites or a kit on Delray's site either.

BTW, thanks for the suggestion. If it only costs me $20 I'll be very happy.

I guess its up to you but I rather get OEM seals straight from dealer. For items under $50 I dont even bother with shipping online, I rather get in person.

And yes the seals will total to under $20, around $15 actually.

BTW, there is no "kit", you need to do the research yourself to find the part numbers. Here's a diagram to get you started(remember you only need the seals):

I figure I need items 12-17, and possibly a bearing. Fortunately, parts 12-17 are available at the Honda dealership. So, I don't have to drive 3hrs round trip, and Fastenal has the bearing for under $2.

correct, plus dont forget the one that goes on the outlet fluid hose. it'll be in the PS line diagram. I'll leave that diagram for you to find, it'll be good practice.

I guess I'm spoiled because I have like 10 acura dealerships within an hour of me, plus the one in my city is 2 min away and gives me employee discount. I definitely wouldnt be able to live in an area with no acura dealerships around.

Does that go on the high pressure hose? If so, I still need to take my car in to have the recall done.

Thanks again for all your help.

it's the one that goes on the top hose of the power steering pump. I think that's the high pressure one, but not 100% about it.

Here's a DIY thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/diy-105-power-steering-pump-overhaul-pics-sm-scans-841134/

I figured it out, I think, it's part 23 in the P.S. line section. Thanks for the DIY, I'll scope it later. As soon as you told me about repairing the pump I cracked open my service manual. I been studying that pretty hard. It actually looks pretty easy.

You sure are lucky having two Acura dealerships near you. My sister is the office GM at a dealership, and the owner is a cool guy. I need to get him to open an Acura dealership.

Good luck on the PS rebuild, post some pics of the process to help others when they decide they need to do it

Well, I tried putting the new seals in today. I didn't follow the much easier DIY posted further up, but instead used my service manual. Now, my power is 100x worse. It is leaking fluid from where I can't tell. There's like a little rotor thing in there with like 10 of the tiniest little blades you've ever seen, and they just slide out like nothing. I lost four, but ended up finding three.

So, right now my PS is leaking noticeably under the car. I obviously broke something internal and worst of all it's like driving a car with no PS at all.

Here's a pic that I highlighted showing what happened when I undid the 4 rear bolts. The entire area circled in green just pulled apart into every piece shown. Including those 10 damn "Pump Vanes".

As far as I can figure I need a new pump now, because whole knows what internal damage occurred.
