Power Steering Leak
Power Steering Leak
Hi, I have a 2007 TL.
In february I was dealing with a power steering leak on my TL so I replaced one of the O rings because it looked like it was leaking. The whining noise went away and I havent had a problem since yesterday.
I noticed a big mark on the driveway of some kind of fluid. I checked and it was the power steering fluid at low again. What could cause this to leak again after not having an issue? I havent even been driving that much.
Please let me know. Thanks.

There are several rubber hoses and hard lines that interconnect each other by the front sub frame, the most likely culprit is the rubber hose to hard line connection by the passenger side wheel well. You need to jack up the car, and remove the wheel then look down there first.

I am in search for a DIY on this, this is the hose I am having a leak from. If you could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
The challenge in replacing that line is disconnecting the end that's sitting near the bottom rear side of the frame, by the rear motor mount. I don't have a DIY, but you'll have to put your body on top of the engine in order to get both hands down to work on disconnecting that end. You'll need long reach hose pliers or it's impossible to disconnect. If you are a big guy with big arms, then you should seek a shop's help. That hose is not reachable either if you have the car on a lift, the frame blocks its access unless the shop drops the rear of the subframe. The end by the wheel well is easy but you'll need a 3/8" vacuum cap to cap off the hard line end once you disconnect it, or fluid will just pour out from the cooling line leading to the front of the car. Chance is, there is actually more leak at the hard to reach end.
