power socket fuse keeps blowing

Hoping someone know what the problem is here...

Power socket fuse blew the other day. Had the car for a year now and no issues prior. I always charge my phone when in the car. I tried changing and the sockets did work again for at least an hour or two. The next day I checked whether they were working but no, dead again. So I popped in another fuse and they worked again for about a minute.

Any ideas? Everything else works except the TPMS system (one of the sensors is bad I think)

I have nav and I also noticed the screen has been exhibiting a slight flicker.

Searched for answers and saw others found metal objects in the power socket which was shorting the circuit but I could not find anything like that in my case.

Puzzled...

Is this fuse #32, 7.5 A ? With the Navi flicker and blown fuse, sounds like you may have a short somewhere in the circuit. Does the Navi flicker happen only when charging your phone?

Does the fuse only blow if you charge your phone? If so, try the other socket and see if it still blows. If not, the you have a bad socket.

Might also be a bad HFL, dunno. You could try disconnecting the HFL and see if the fuse doesn't blow after doing that.

No its a 15a fuse.... It blows no matter what apparently...

i guess I will have to look at them better.

The flicker is barely noticeable amd may just be a result of the very cold temps lately. Never had it restart or anything... Works as it should...

Ah, fuse #9? Then sure sounds like you have a short in one of your sockets, probably the one you use the most...

make sure you clean the bottom of the power socket, some time there is junk getting down there and cause a short circuit.

You'll have to remove a good chunk of your dash to give that socket a look from behind. It's not hard at all the second time around though.

Felt like such an idiot yesterday because I finally "figured out" that it was my air compressor causing the fuse to blow....

if you have small hands you may be able to get it from the side by removing the side panel and reaching in. I did that when my 02 CLS socket worked it's way loose
