Pothole vs. TL, need assesment?
So yesterday I was heading to staten Island from Manhattan. As I cross the Battery Tunnel, I Hit a major pothole.
It made a huge sound, so I pulled over the service road and get out of the car. No physical damages done to the wheel or car. However, now I am feeling all the bumps on the road.
Could this be a blown shock? sht I just installed Konis and only have 600 miles on them.
When I get to my destination and meet up with my friends, I make a broken U turn, the car sounds like its draggin a garbage can... i get out to see.. the driver Fender is slighty flip out from the inside.. massive rubbing. I push it back in.. get on the road... now the fender is cutting into the tires......
When I get home I jack up the car. No physicall damages to the wheel. However, my cvtboot seems to be leaking, the car is sitting very low on driver side, cant make left turns wiht out rubbin/pushing out the fender, Tire is shredde, koni appear to be sitting lower on the upper arm than should be....
What can possibly be damaged there?

Did you take any pics while checking it out?
You say its sitting lower on the driver side.. I assume this is the side you hit the pothole..
Take a couple of pics.. maybe it would help..

^^^later today.. it was late last night. I will take pics for sure..
I hoping is not a blown shocks...Even though Koni are lifetime warranty...i am not sure if they will replace it since its techanicaly for accordds.
Could be a bent control arm.
I will def take pics.

That's what I'm thinking..
The hit was so nasty it blew the shock out and bent the arm in the process.. but what doesn't make it certain is the the rim/tire did not bend or brake..
Or you have one hell of a rim that can stand that hit and transmit the hit directly to the control arm and koni or it's something else buddy..
Hope you can figure it out so you dont loose the tire for the rubbing or damage anything else..

sounds like a control arm problem, if you just installed the konis 600 miles ago then there should be no major wear. But then again you said you can feel every bump, it could be both.

So i have some pics that are uploading.
Tire is done... needed new tires anyways. Rim is EKM3 just installed 2 days ago.
I am not a mechanic but this waht i see...The koni is sitting way to low ont he uper fork...its pratically riding on the axle. I dint feel very bump..correction.. i feel bumps a bit harder. I will pst pics and see what you guys think..
I thikn the impact pushed the koni down on the fork.

ok jos... after checking out your pics I give my final assesment
front fender (visible damage you already know what that will require)...
strut (we spoke about earlier) koni will likely do a warranty on it for you I hope
lower control arm (is fine)
axle (is fine)
Boot (requires replacing which you already know the cost off)
so $200 + bodywork... def need to bill the city for it

So this is what I have to look forward to when I get back.. great! Definitely bill the city for that one man. Make sure you go take photos of the crater before the fill it up.
What's that shit that is sticking out? Is that the fender splash shield or something else?

questions
So there's no stop to keep the shock from slipping through the collar like that?
Is the Koni firmer than stock? I wonder how the stock shock would've handled the hit.
If the bolt on the collar were torqued to a higher torque, could it possibly have not slipped?

Got and update:
Koni said the tab is not structural and its only for aligment purposes. He instructed me to push it up and torque accordingly. Piece of advise on anyone changing suspension.... order the bolt that locks the lower fork.
Tires: Shopping around and this time i am being cheap:
Falken 912 235/40 -18 @ $100 dollars each or Khumo Ecsta @ $75 each on tire rack.
I am ordering a new boot and clamps.. hopefully the axle aint damaged.
The fender is getting hammer in until i get to the body shop. I have work to do on the rear panel so i will take care of that one then as well.

Mine doesnt seem to be line up... may this be the reason is sliped?
"The reason for this photo is to show that you have to measure two different things. At about the 2 1/2" point is a piece that I'm going to call the "collar". This collar is removable from the stock shock and is required for the Koni shocks. Before you remove the collar, you want to measure from the bottom of it to the low point where the spring will sit in the spring cup. You also want to measure from the bottom of the collar to that "divot" in the shock body (at about 3 3/4"). The reason for the divot is to clear the bolt that goes through the shock fork."

update.
Shocks have been readjusted.
The shocks feel fine so far. Couldnt really hear any sound on the axle...however looking to replace it with aftermarket.
Tires are being replace with Toyo Proxes 4 245/30-18
and possibly minor body work.. but this will be when i take care of the back dent.
