Possible water leak

When I took apart my rear seat, (during my a-spec suspension install), there was some standing water underneath the right hand side seat cushion. After pulling the rear deck out I noticed that there was a water stain underneath on the insulation. The only place I can think of is the rear window. Should I just run a hose on the car or just bring it to the dealer??? If I bring it to the dealer, will he say anything about me taking the seat apart??? Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated.

side note: Body kit and suspension install went great!!

You're not alone

A few of us on here had a similar situation. Several months ago I had my entire rear leather and seatblets replaced due to water leakage. Acura is VERY aware of this problem. It is actually a design flaw (If we are talking about the same issue or not.)

It has/had to do with the drainage holes. For some reason, they are too big and allow more water to get up into the bottom of the car. For all of us in snow/salt country, the salt wicks up through the seatbelts and looks like we got infected with Anthrax.

I'm not sure if there is a TSB for it or not, but when I called Motorcars Acura in Cleveland, they didn't balk at all.

They took the car for about 5 days. I got a new '06 TL for a loaner. Nice, but didn't like the electric blue radio display. :yuck

GET TO THE DEALER ASAP

Wow I just had my rear seat out and noticed the exact same thing! It's not water in my case though but a bunch of mildew looking stain there that looks like water was there before.

Is it coming up through the wire holes there??

Do I need to have the dealer look at this? I think there was a TSB about this issue and the dealer fix was something like caulking the holes from the underside.

This thread should explain the issue. Take it to the dealer so that they can seal a tube that runs underneath the car seat.

I have a 2006 AT model btw, serious anthrax looking mold / mildew on my '06 with 6000 miles on it..got it in 9/2005 living in Chicago through a winter but it's garaged at home and work, so be on the lookout for this issue everyone! Might only be those taking out their rear seats that actually even know it's an issue.

I got my car back from the dealer yesterday, and the dealer had never heard of the leak before. I guess being on the west coast doesn't make the problem apparent. But anyway, he just put some silicone around the ABS lines and told me to keep an eye on it. I hope it fixes the prob.
Thanks,

Mine was very minor, I'm sure because my car is garaged both at home and work and is new with very few miles on it I would never have noticed if I hadn't taken the rear seat out.

They said that people using the underspray car washes (which I do) see the problem also.

Even looking at the residue left on the floor under the seat I wouldn't have really ever thought much of it if I didn't read these boards regularly.
