Peeling Steering Wheel Leather
Just wondering if this is happening to anyone else, the leather a the top of my steering where my hand is placed mostly is peeling. I don't wear any rings or anything, and I got the car with 15,000 miles on it and now it has 29000. Has this happened to anyone else, and if so what did their dealership do to fix it. I have an appointment with Acura Carland here in Atl. on Mon and would like some reference points in case they try to go the cheap route on me. The peeling is not terrible, but is noticeable. Besides, $30,000 cars shouldn't have this issue.

I'll take some pics when I get home today and post them. I kinda figured it to be a warranty issue, but what I am wondering is HOW they will fix it, change the wrap around the steering wheel (which a friend of mine who used to work for acura say they can't do), or replace the entire steering wheel. Just wondering what is resonable?

Yeah, it was fixed under warranty. They (Acura Carland) first scheduled me for a leather repair person, to come in and fix it. I went in as scheduled, and I waited two hours. The repair looked very good, so I was cool with it. It lasted all of a month before I noticed it begining to peel again. The repair was at the top of the steering wheel, so I went as far as not even driving with my hands up there for the entire month, and it still began to peel again. i don't know what he fixed it with, but it didn't hold up under the sun I guess. I told them about it, and the ordered me a replacement steering wheel, and swapped it out no questions asked. It was another two hour wait, but oh well, no peeling steering wheel now.

That's good....glad it worked out for you.
I'll let them know when I bring my car in for an oil change.
Hope they will order me a new one and swap it.
Can't believe the quality of this car.

Wish me luck I go in on Wed with the same problem. Would a carbon wheel fit on an 04? I like the leather but I don't want to go through this in another 50k. Would it seem like I was trying to get something more asking for one? I don't necessarily like it better I just don't want to have to worry about the leather wearing again.
