Guys, more opinions please, if the rotors are warped bad enough, can they can make contact with the pad slightly slowing that wheel down on/off/on/off and causing a ON/OFF shimmy? It's 90% coming from the floor/gas pedal while cruising at 65-70+, and VERY slight vibration from the steering wheel. Also gets worse when I accelerate but then smoothens out and goes back to slight shimmy.. Again, it comes and goes. That's what's odd as hell. I have had a couple of mechanics tell me it's my rotors/pads.
I have had them road force balanced by 3 places now, a couple of times at each place. Had alignment done. Had suspension/axles/bushings etc checked by 2 places and they seem to be fine, and motor mounts fine. What could it be??
I don't recall feeling it with my stock wheels, but maybe I didn't pay attention/you could feel it more with the XXRs?..

I can bet its from the cupped tire.....(or if the rim has damage like bent/crack)....
a warped rotor will induce steering shake at high speed braking....but not pedal vibration....are you getting steering vibration as well ? if YES then does it vibrate when you brake or between certain speeds ?

But these tires are brand new and so are the rims. And wouldn't both cause vibrations at all times and not on/off? It vibrates very bad when I brake esp from lower speeds.
The on/off vibration at normal cruising is mostly from pedal, but steering also. Well, at least I think it's coming from the pedal. The whole floor vibrates. Slightly, not big, but noticeable...

I wish it was but 2 of my friends drove it and feel it. And my dad sat in my passenger seat and he felt it as well. I do feel it on any highway road...

DatDere....check your mounts as well....IHC has mentioned somewhere how to check the mounts (i think its throwing from N to D to see any vibrations changes) something like that....lemme try to find that post....or you can PM him....
as your last resort i would suggest cough up the diagnostic fee at a local acura dealership (for $100-150 depending) and pin point the problem....

Want to hear something funny? I took it to Honda and paid $85 for them to do that and they said everything was fine and that it "could" be my tires. They couldn't tell me what was wrong with them, they just blamed it on my tires...
I went back there and had a war with them and told them I'm not leaving without an answer and they re-checked it and still couldn't find anything wrong. They told me to try buying new tires lmaoo

Update... My buddy is letting me try his aftermarket wheels from his TL tomorrow. Hope I figure something out. I was also told by someone a stuck brake caliper, where one or several calipers are stuck and slightly dragging due to slide pins or pistons which causes a shudder at speed. Could this be a possibility?

i wish you luck, buddy. please let us know...there was a time where I was freakin too and hated driving and dreaded hitting the highway, but now, I'm SUPER happy...I love my car like no other car I've ever had.
my fiancee went with me in the corolla...was a 5 speed type s...actually had some pick up to it, kinda...she was cracking up...she's like..."man, i've become a car snob" between my car and her 8th gen that I have mildly modded...etc...we're spoiled...I was like, UMMM...you know I didn't start in a TL, right!?!? I had an 87 corolla I wish I'd never gotten rid of actually.

Well, like you said rockstar, new rotors did not do anything beside eliminate the bad vibration I had when braking. Now the problem is either in the rims or the tires, which I will never find out. And it's not the balance.

as mentioned rotors will only cause vibration (STEERING vibrations) when braking from a high speed....not while cruising....
did you try your friends rims ??? did u have any vibrations....am still betting my money on the tires or if rims have bends....
hope you didnt blow your wallet on rotors....

I had mine warrantied by discounttiredirect.com...
the hankook evo's vibrated...
the falken 452's vibrated...
and BOTH of them after multiple high speed and roadforce balancing.
The continentals don't vibrate at all...

They are now about 2 months old. It has been like this since I have gotten them. I went back to Tires Plus and they told me that they couldn't return them if there isn't "proof" that it's the tires...

Yeah, I just figured it's a kill two birds with one stone haha. I needed new rotors and pads anyway, it was about time. My car felt like an earthquake when I braked!! I got them from Brakesmotive for $145 shipped. All slotted/drilled rotors and pads
And no, because I now know for a fact it's the rims or tires. I NEVER had this problem before the brand new rims/tires were put on. And I've had the car itself checked out by 3 mechanics now, and everything seems to be fine and they all told me it's either the rims or the tires. But, if it was the rims, it wouldn't be on/off vibrations, would it? I mean, they ARE brand new rims AND tires

recently did my wifeys lexus brake setup....got everything from Advance Auto Parts and got everything done for ~155 bucks.....decent stuff !!!
about the rims or tires, i had a bubble in the tire....and it make my car shake above 70mph....until 70 it was smooth as butter....above 70 it was insane until about 85mph....once you hit 90 it was smooth as well....so in all honesty it didnt affect the overall speed, just a range !!!
take your friends setup, borrow it !!! swap it !!! and test it !!!
and that cup in your tire is not proof enough ????

I would get the tire shop that mounted them to put in writing that the tire was cupping.
I had 2 different sets of tire and the mount balance done a billion times...when I switched to the DW's and got it balanced at acura is when it finally felt right. I agree though, a tire should not be the cause (non defective).

I went back to Tires Plus and kept it there for a couple of hours. They couldn't find any bubbles or cupping nor anything wrong with the rims as they dismounted them to see. Nothing wrong with the tires nor the rims, they said. They said that it's the tires being stretched on the rims causing vibrations, and that I can not go any wider than 225 with these rims because they will rub. In the end, they were like getting different tire brand won't make a difference and that these rims just aren't perfect for my car. I have had these for months now trying to figure this out. I have prob spent $200 on gas going back and forth everywhere, and another $100 on diagnosis at Honda, and probably 40 hours of my time trying to figure this fucking bullshit out. I am selling them the way they are and buying something else. I am beyond sick of this. It has caused me major headaches. So done.

I know TLDUDE is running a 225 tire on the same XXR rims and Rockstar is running 225 on a 9" rim (if am not mistaken on both counts)....so swap the set and see what happens.....if vibrations goes away, sell your current set....if vibrations stays then you have bigger things to worry about....

Wow, Datdere, I swear, I was at that point too...and it was tires plus too and they tried to convince me that all aftermarket wheels are cr*p and that if I didn't want vibrations i should have stayed oem. A ridiculous claim, IMO. The balance machine and the person balancing are what make the biggest difference.
I did that, and also usually put a piece of painter's tape around the hub and also around the hubcentric ring to ensure a SUPER tight fit...torque down with no weight on the wheel originally to make sure it centers.
If there was a bend or the rim wasn't centered, they'd be able to tell you when they see it spinning on the balance machine.

When I get my car back from servicing my tires I always dismount and remount myself. I make sure all the lugs are seating properly and torqued down to spec. I feel that shop techs at tire shops really don't care too much about these details. For them, as long as it's on the car and lugs are secure, it passes. I'm sure not all techs are not like this, but majority of techs at tire shops I've been to don't take the time to finger tighten each lug and make sure it's seated properly, and then tighten them down with a torque wrench. Update: My buddy and I swapped wheels today and we're keeping them till Monday. My XXRs rode smooth as butter on his 04. I was very shocked lol. Then, I drove my car with his stockies and it rode pretty smooth too. Although... I did feel some vibration mostly from the gas pedal when I hit it at 80+, then it kind of smoothens out. It was nothing compared to how much my wheels vibrated. He also has a bent rim and the tires have like 5% tread.
What we came up with is that, due to my tires being stretched on my XXRs + being on stock height = tires not hugging the ground well/not sitting 100% right. His car is lowered...
Opinions?

Like, people stretch a tire so they can go as low as possible. Just think of what happens to the sidewall when you stretch it across a wide rim. If eventually starts to drag along with the thread lowering the sidewall height allowing the people to go lower and tuck more tire. If you have a "proper" fitting tire on a rim the sidewall will be straight vertical. What do you guys think? It does make a lot of sense...
