PCV valve broke

Taking out the PCV valve the old one broke into pieces & I was stuck with taking off the valve cover & taking out the pieces. Trying to put in the replacement it doesn’t exactly fit into place & about an inch of it isn’t going into it. I stuck my finger inside the collar & felt like a sharp metal. Is it possible I broke a metal piece that snugs into the pcv valve or may it be possible there are still some plastic pieces of the old pcv valve stuck in there ?

PCV Valve pieces stuck in collar?

Hey guys, so a few days ago I made a thread about my replacement PCV valve not going all the way in about taking out the broken pieces of the original that broke. Some of you might say I should’ve been patient & waited for a response or looked at similar threads, but none really specify the risk of breaking anything if inserting a flat drive or pliers up into the whole to get the broken pieces out. I’ll leave a few pictures below & you can guys can let me know if that’s a piece remaining of the PCV or something else.

I'm guessing the new PCV valve still doesn't fit? Then I would say yea, that is a broken piece then. It doesn't look like it belongs there to me.

i wouldn’t know honestly. A lot of pieces fell out of it when I took the valve cover off the first time. Maybe some remained in there. Looks like a black plastic piece. Would you knowing it belongs there ?

Get an extra long wood screw and thread it onto the plastic piece and pull out. If that doesnt work, you may have to pull the valve cover off to get to it

I'm not certain about anything If you're very worried popping off the valve cover is your best approach to ensure you fully get it out.
