Passenger Airbag Off?

Hey wutsup guys. Yesterday on my way home from a soccer game, I noticed that the Airbag off light right above the hazard light button was on. Thing is, while I was driving, it would turn off, then a little bit later it would turn back on again and it would repeat over and over. Anyone else have or had this happen before? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

You said you were coming from a soccer game. Did you happen to have a litte soccer-playing passenger with you? I ahve an 06 and I noticed the same thing. I realized though, it did it when she was sitting forward in the seat or moving around. I went to the manual and it goes off it it doesn't detect a passenger. Hope that helps.

according to what i've read in the manuals. if there is something/someone sitting on the front seat and not seated properly. the passenger side airbag will turn off. this is to prevent people from getting hurt by the airbag cause they are not sitting straight up and facing forward but leaning on the side or something in case of an accident.

There is a weight sensor in it. Since I work for Nissan, I know that our sensors are 10 to 65 lbs. meaning it can sense if a young kid is in the seat and disable the airbag. I didn't know it had anything to do with not seated properly or movement though. It could.

Our TL's also have weight sensors as well. A laptop and things like grocery bags that are fairly light can shift enough so that the weight detected by the seat sensor(s?) varies enough to turn the airbag off and on intermittently. I've had that happen with several library books and also a soft messenger case full of documents, so I usually try to put stuff on the floor or in the trunk rather than on the seats for trips over 20 minutes.
