Parking brake shoes binding on new rotors, cant spin hub

2008 TL-S

I had a siezed caliper on on my right rear, replaced it and bought new rotors, flex lines and pads for both sides. The problem side went together like butter, the side that was fine has given me a nightmare.

After 2 hrs of beating on the left rear rotor I realized the parking brake shoe was siezed to the rotor, had to use long ass bolts in the holes opposite of the rotor retaining screw holes to break it loose. Finally got it off and when I put the new rotor on (slides on fine) and go to tighten down the rotor screws it completely binds to the parking brake shoes... to the point where the rotor/hub wont even spin with excessive force.

I have turned the starwheel all the way down to contract the shoes and that does nothing, if I put the rotor on without the screws it spins perfect, as soon as I tighten down the screws its jammed time and time again.

I have tried to repeatedly pull the ebrake up and down hoping to maybe center the damn thing and I get nothing... any ideas?

This is what I get for trying to fix something that isnt broken!

Any help is appreciated!

Ben

Id say make sure the shoes are actually sitting in the proper position. Make sure the tabs are all in the proper grooves. Check for rust in places that contact the rotor. Or where the rotor may meet the backing plate area. Something isn't sitting right. Maybe post a few pictures of the area

OP, were those A/M pads? I know in your case this make not make sense, but a lot of folks have had issues with A/M pads being too thick. I'd probably try some OEM pads on that side and see what happens.

No idea... its a 2008 so i dont see why someone would of changed them. There was some damage to the dust shield from beating on the old rotor for 2hrs that causing binding... I reassembled and im going to drive it tomorrow to see if it grinds its way loose on whatever is binding, at this point its all I can do.
