P0957 - apparent

A few days after spilling some coffee near my automatic shift control (ugh), my engine light came on. Using my tester, I got a code for P0957, which (based on another post I found) indicates a fault in the "Sportshift" selection switch, or its circuit to the PCM. Apparently this means that my Autostick shift function will be disabled -- something I've never used. Given the fact that I have 190M+ miles and it's a 2005 TL, I'm not inclined to go to a dealer with the problem but to just live with it. If anyone has any experience or input it would be welcome.

Its happened to me, but not the codes. First thing is completely take shifter area apart piece by piece. Clean down in console. Get out gunk, wipe down thoroughly and see what you get when things are clean and dry. That'll be the 1st thing to save dough. Hope it works out. I have pics of it on here somewhere

electrical contact cleaner - so far, so good

Thanks for the input ... before getting in there and taking things apart, I decided to make a $10 gamble on spraying electrical contact cleaner in where the coffee had gone, then cleared the engine code ... so far, so good.... will post again if anything changes
