Overheating Question - Lost All Coolant - 2006 TL
2006 TL
Car overheated last night and by the time I was able to pull over, it sounded like a diesel engine at idle. It appeared to have zero water. AAA brought out a flatbed and got it home.
So in looking for my leak this morning, I filled it with distilled water. Didn't use the antifreeze as I expected it to be all over the garage floor. Didn't happen. Forgot to fill the overflow tank so I unscrewed the top. The little tube inside the overflow tank wasn't attached. flipped it upside down as the lower end of the tube didn't look as stretched out as the top. It fit more snugly. Filled it and ran the car for 15 minutes. Nothing happened. Drove around the block. Ran fine and never overheated. Left it running in the garage longer, still nothing.
The only thing that I can tell wasn't right was the little tube in the white plastic overflow tank. Could it falling off the cap cause me to overheat and lose all the antifreeze? I still have no idea where it all went, there were very little blue stains on the motor. A little, yes. But not much.
Thanks!

A few comments:
- The loose tube didn't cause the loss of coolant, it just prevented the radiator from filling back up once everything cooled down.
- You will definitely need to identify where the coolant is being lost.
- I'm thinking a cooling system pressure test is in order.
I'll take surface streets to Acura and have them do a pressure test.
In looking at this problem, I've now discovered I also have a broken fresh air intake hose. Cracked in two places. I guess I'll be getting a replacement for that too.
I'm sure they'll find another grand in repairs on top of these. Hahaha.
