Overheating damage/repairs?!?!
Overheating damage/repairs?!?!
I did some quick searches and found some relevent information, but really wanted to get some feedback from the mechanically savvy members of the forum. Please forgive my carelessness below.
I replaced the airfilter over the weekend with an OEM filter. In the process a tube behind the intake manifold came undone. I drove around only briefly the remainder of the day and didnt notice anything. Then next day however, the car began to overheat 5mins into a trip. I continued to drive at low highway speeds for no more than 2 or 3 mins with the temp at or near the H. When I did pull over and open the hood, i saw the disconnected tube with small amounts of steam coming from it and traces of coolant surrounding. I guess this tube helps circulate coolant? I called a friend to bring some coolant, as it was sunday night and options were low. I put a whole bottle of green generic coolant to refill the overflow tank. The car ran at normal operating temp the rest of the drive home, including some traffic. Haven't driven it since.
My questions are if the less than 5 mins of overheated driving at low rpms could have caused permanent damage, if mixing coolants will have adverse reactions, and if there is there is anything I should def do to prevent more damage??? I plan on changing oil and flushing coolant at a minimum this weekend. Thanks to anyone in advance for there advice!

I believe that your not suppose to mix other brands of coolant with the Honda stuff. Did you have Honda coolant? If your car did not knock when you drove it with it in the red zone you're probably OK. Hopefully you had enough coolant in there.
First things first, dump that coolent right now, all of it, and put in honda spec fluid, the garabe that is aftermarket stuff can cause corrision in our engines and dry out seals. Next you need to get it to a mechanic to have everything checked out.
